Electrify America

Electrify America’s mission is to create a convenient and reliable DC fast charging network in metropolitan areas, as well as along many of the nation’s major highways. Currently, there are over 640 locations available with over 2,700 charging ports. By the end of 2021, Electrify America plans to increase that to approximately 800 station locations open or in development across the U.S. containing 3,500 individual ports. Each station features chargers that can deliver 150 or 350 kW (depending on the charger) to capable vehicles. When charging at 150 kW, the Audi e-tron® quattro can fully charge its battery from 0 to 80% in as little as 30 minutes.

Audi Environmental Foundation

Our sustainability mission extends beyond our vehicles. The Audi Environmental Foundation promotes engagement with and technologies for environmental protection with the objective of helping protect and maintain the natural resources required by humans, animals, and plants. The projects sponsored by the Foundation focus on innovative, environmentally compatible technologies and measures for environmental education. One such project is a collaboration between the Foundation and Audi of America to support innovative climate model development at one of the world’s top research institutes, the California Institute of Technology.

Paris Climate Agreement Commitment

In 2019, Audi was also among the first automotive manufacturers to publicly support and align our actions with the goals of the Paris Climate. This 194-nation agreement aims to limit global warming to 2 degrees Celsius by cutting emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. Climate change is very likely the greatest challenge facing humankind in the 21ˢᵗ century. Audi acknowledges its responsibility and, through our actions and commitments, aims to become an integral part of the solution.

Closed-loop aluminum

Audi is the first car manufacturer to be awarded the Chain of Custody certificate of the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI). This certificate confirms that Audi complies with the materials flow chain for aluminum produced in accordance with ASI sustainability standards and can also input the correspondingly certified material to the Aluminum Closed Loop with its suppliers. In this way, the level of sustainability attested by the ASI is maintained, not just for vehicle components but also for the process scrap from Audi press plants that is retained in the loop.

Developing a more sustainable battery.

To further improve the life cycle sustainability of our batteries, Audi is exploring second-use applications and the recycling and re-use of their constituent materials.

Envisioning 2050

We have committed to a net-carbon neutral balance by 2050 – from the supply chain and production through to the life cycle of our vehicles. We expect to achieve this through a responsible use of resources, the systematic reduction of CO₂ emissions across all of our operations, the manufacturing of more sustainable electromobility, and sale of increasingly sustainable and truly compelling electric vehicles.

The first of its kind: carbon-neutral automotive manufacturing.

Audi Brussels was certified as the industry’s first carbon-neutral site, which is no small feat. This coordinated effort encompasses the entire facility, made possible by the installation of a large on-site renewable energy source, as well as offsetting emissions that cannot be avoided.
